robotic-vacuum-cleaner-cleaning-the-room-while-wom-2024-11-07-13-20-10-utc-min-jpg-original.jpgThe Best Robot Hoover

The best automatic vacuum robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and will leave your floors spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are pluses.

Make sure you regularly check your robot's brushes for hair tangled and large debris and clean them as needed. Some models can also automatically empty their onboard dustbin into a larger bin at the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive counterpart, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have tested. They feature motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobot models (including the top pick) they utilize smart mapping technology to design precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also feature a feature called Carpet Boost that increases its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept at cleaning dog hair. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a great deal particularly if your office or home has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save some money. Plus, it's very quiet and can work when you're at work or school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be changed for one that is wet in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also features a self-emptying bin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, however it isn't as effective as some of its competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

This top-performing combination vacuum and mop makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it learns the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and customize zones using the app that is well-designed. It has a battery lifespan that is similar to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a room with carpet, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also great for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot hoover and mop vacuum/mop that could complete the task of cleaning a whole home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a decent cleaning job on various floors and rooms with different flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically fills up its base, and also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums it, something we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With a sleek circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxes this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most appealing looking in our tests. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot vacuum that mops that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully self-refill and empty its base station and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, offering an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's still quite loud that could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and some additional cost it's a capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a lot of advanced features that will let you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and detect obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection, although this wasn't quite 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the house based on how dirty those areas tend to be.

If you have a bigger home, it's worth selecting a model with a spot or zone cleaning mode. This lets you tell the robot which area of your home must be cleaned using the app or voice command. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off could be very useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using a single pad and a reciprocating motion that is more efficient than most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tested. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying washable base.

robot-vacuum-mops-logo-text-black-png-original.jpgThe well-designed iRobot app guides you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, arrange an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance. The app also grants access to a host of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It features a powerful 8000 Pascal suction, as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean that will thoroughly clean an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute eyes. It does a good job vacuuming but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also comes with an app that is less intuitive, and a smaller base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
